Sheepherding

Here are two of my buddies who come to visit me from time to time. They live in Rancho Park and belong to Robin, a great friend of Barbara, the woman who takes me for most of my walks. Robin, a regular reader of 'Milo NO!', graciously submitted these pictures of Sofie and Jasper, and here's what she has to say about her Australian Sheepdogs:

"Sofie is a sweet and loveable dog who is irrepressible. She loves to be up high, and climbs and jumps all over the place. She is also a Houdini. We have a seat belt harness that is too complicated for Doug to be able put it on her. She is, however able to get out of it with all the buckles closed and the harness still attached to the seat belt. I had a long conversation with the inventor of the harness and we are trying to solve the problem with her. He said as soon as I told him I had Aussies he figured that was the problem and it would be with the female."

"Jasper is a very responsible guy, who convinced me to send him sheepherding when he was 10 months old. We were walking on the beach with his buddy, Harry, who was a 10 month old Golden Retriever. Harry loves the ocean and Jasper stayed away from it. It was 5 p.m. on a cold February night and Harry plunged into the ocean and went past the surf. His mistress, Sue called to him, but he was having too much fun. Jasper went after him and dragged him by the collar back to Sue, and held him while she leashed him."
